Vandna Sidher - performer & instructor of Bharata Natyam (classical Indian dance)



Vandna Sidher has been training in Bharata Natyam for the past twenty years.

Since 1997, she has trained with Anusha Fernando, Artistic Director of
Shakti Dance Society and in May 2005, she completed her Arangetram 
(solo graduation performance). Vandna has received advanced Bharata Natyam
training from Srimati Jayalakshmi Eshwar of Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi;
Jai Govinda of Mandala Arts and Culture, and Sheila Chandrashekar of Rathi
School of Dance, Ottawa. Aided by the British Columbia Arts Council, in 2005
Vandna studied dance in New Delhi, India with Srimati Eshwar. In 2007 she
trained intensively with Srimati Eshwar in New Delhi as a recipient of the
prestigious Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Arts Fellowship.

As a professional performer and instructor, Vandna continues to study and
train in the tradition and is interested in exploring traditional Bharata
Natyam repertoire within a contemporary framework. 

Vandna has a B.A. in Communications and Publishing from Simon Fraser University, 
and is Publicist and Publications Coordinator at Ballet British Columbia.
