JIM WONG-CHU
Jim Wong-Chu has been active in the Asian Canadian community for the past 30 years.

As a founding member of the Pender Guy Radio Program on Vancouver's Co-op Radio in the 1970's,
he learned about the need to build community and contribute as a writer and historian. Later he
became a founding member of the Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop, an organization that helped guide
young aspiring Asian Canadians towards becoming a published author.

The Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop gave birth to Ricepaper magazine, the only nationally distributed
Asian Canadian magazine on cultural arts. In 1995, he help found the Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society
and was a member of the board of directors and has served in numerous capacities.
